It was a crazy, windy, rainy week here on the coast of NC. And a little scary too. Hurricane Dorian left our yard in disarray and our a roof with a few leaks. But the bright side is that we're all okay. I think sometimes nature gives us a reminder of just how fragile life is. Being an author, I tend to steep in the emotions that come with these events. The anxiety of the growing storm. The fear at the howling winds and dancing shadows at my window at midnight (it really was terrifying) and the relief and overwhelming gratitude when the storm has passed. There's also the sadness for everyone who was harder hit. Romance novels offer hope and there's a lot of that after a crisis. I think nature serves to give us reminders of that as well--the sun always returns after the rain. Here's hoping that Dorian was the worst this hurricane season will offer.
