It's been a LONG road to receiving "THE CALL" that everyone talks about. If I had known it would take me 6 years to get here, I may have second guessed all that time I spent in the wee hours of the morning, constructing stories of wounded heroes and the women who love them.
BUT I'M SO GLAD I DIDN'T GIVE UP!
Because I finally got "THE CALL", my call, last Monday! I met Sarah Younger (literary agent at Nancy Yost Literary Agency) through my critique partner last year at the RWA conference in Atlanta. I immediately liked Sarah. For one, she's from my home state of North Carolina. And two: she was gracious enough to allow me to hang out with Team Sarah the entire conference we attended together, even saving me seats at meals and during the award ceremony. She also requested my full manuscript at the end of that trip. While she didn't fall in love with that first manuscript, she gave me invaluable feedback in the most gracious, non-judgmental Sarah-esque manner. I knew I'd submit my next manuscript to her, which I did early this year andddddd........
THIS TIME SHE LOVED IT!
So last Monday night, after receiving "THE CALL" and jumping up and down (which a pregnant woman should try to avoid), she emailed me a contract, I signed and voila! I finally have a literary home. I'm so excited about the next leg of this writing journey.
