I'm having a FAN GIRL MOMENT!

Forgive me while I have a #fangirl moment... Author Brenda Novak is reading my book!!!

There was a time when I wished that anyone, just one person, would read my book. Then I got a publishing deal and it still amazes me that people PAY to read anything that I've written. So thank you to everyone who has read my work. It means so very much. I am truly loving every moment of this author experience. It's been a dream of mine since I was 6 years old (that, and being a ballerina which did not come to fruition ;) Probably for the best)

Now back to squeeing over the great Brenda Novak! #authorgoals

Who wants to help the cause?

I'm so excited about my new Sweetwater Springs series. It's my first time being in mass market print, and I want to help new readers find me. I've printed these beautiful excerpt booklets for CHRISTMAS ON MISTLETOE LANE, featuring my cover, the opening scene, and where to buy the book should readers want to keeping (I hope they do!).
If you are in a bookclub, belong to a group of women who love to read, work at or own a business where you interact with potential romance readers (hair salon, schools, etc), or just have a large family of readers, please contact me in the contact form. I'd love to send you some of these excerpt booklets to give out and help spread the word! **US only please due to shipping costs.

Top Takeaways from RWA 2017

8/4/2017

Hi everyone! I’m still recuperating from the Romance Writers of America convention last week. I arrived in Orlando on Tuesday and it was a blur until I returned home on Sunday. I learned so much, though. Every year I come back feeling invigorated with my writing (and yes, equally exhausted too). It’s a wonderful experience for beginner and seasoned authors alike. There’s something there for everyone who enjoys romance (including bloggers, librarians, and readers).

Today, I wanted to share with you my top takeaways from the conference:

  1. We’re not alone in the struggle. The market right now is tough for everyone. Shelf space is dwindling and we’re all trying to figure out how to get our beloved books to the right readers.
  2. There are a TON of marketing strategies out there. Find the one that works for you. (And I got to meet my favorite marketing guru Mark Dawson!)
  3. Writing your best book is and always will be the first priority. I found a new favorite craft guru in Damon Suede at RWA.
  4. More writers and readers are turning to light, fluffy, and funny to counteract what’s going on in the real world.
  5. I didn’t necessarily learn this at this year’s conference, but I always come away from RWA with a new love for romance authors, bloggers, and readers. Love isn’t just what we read and write, it’s what we do as human beings. There are no strangers at RWA, only friends we haven’t had the pleasure to meet just yet.

So on that note, friends, until next year in Denver!
